Tip #49. Travel Early in the Morning

Every other month I get to travel on business. I have a choice to take 7am flight or 9am flight or even 12pm flight. Yet I always choose 7am, and some of you may have already guessed why. Answer is very simple. It helps me support my early rising habit. It helps because I know I do not want to miss my flight. And I know I will get off the bed no matter what as soon as alarm fires up. Travel is that important reason which pushes me out of my warm bed regardless of what is the weather outside.

Few times in the past I slacked to give myself a break from early rising, yet every time I need to travel I plan to leave early and this puts me back on my “normal” schedule. If you cannot seem to do that first step and wake up early – plan to start your next trip early in the morning. This will trick you into committing and this commitment is usually hard to break once you have paid for tickets and got all your plans aligned around your travel time.

Traveling early works good not just for occasional business trips I refer to, but for every day commute as well. If you commute early you can save yourself tremendous amount of time (and save some money, too). Put that saved time to good use – get your stuff done sooner and go to bed earlier.
